Tryouts
Important Tryout Information
WYHA travel team tryouts take place in late September and early October, depending on your skater's age.
Please check this page frequently leading up to tryouts as it will include important information regarding session assignments and other info that is updated frequently.
Remember, players who are trying out for Bantam AA or PeeWee AA must select the AA opt-in option during registration. Players who do not wish to participate in tryouts can opt-out entirely and be placed directly on a C team. Both options must be selected during the player registration process.
Please see the documents below for important details about various aspects of our tryouts.

Tryout FAQs
My 15U player is trying out for the high school program, what is the policy surrounding 15U tryouts in this situation?
The 15U girls level is unique because it includes players who may also be interested in trying out for their high school team. Players planning to try out for the high school team are welcome to register and participate in the 15U tryout process. However, we kindly ask that families indicate on the registration form if their player will also be trying out for the high school team. Please note that the registration fee for 15U is non-refundable. This fee is intended to cover initial expenses such as pre-tryout ice time, tryout sessions, equipment, hired evaluators, administrative costs, and up to a month of practice and scrimmage time leading up to the high school tryouts.
Does participating in the AA tryout guarantee my player a spot on a higher team (B1 or above)?
No. Any player may opt-in to the AA tryout, however there is no guarantee of making a team at a certain level by doing so. Even progressing through the first several days of the AA process before being moved down into the Standard tryout is not a guarantee of making the A or B1 team.
My player would rather not participate in the tryout process, can they opt out and still be placed on a team?
Yes. We understand that there may be situations where a player isn't comfortable participating in the tryout process. In this instance, please select the Tryout Opt-Out option during player registration. Players selecting this option will be automatically placed on a C-team at their appropriate age level.
What is the process for Junior Gold players?
If your player does not intend to try out for the High School team, please select the "JR GOLD" option during registration. If your player will try out for the High School program but is interested in participating with Junior Gold if they don't make the High School team, select the "HS TRYOUT" option during registration. This option comes with a $50 registration fee that is deducted from the total registration fee if the player registers and plays for a WYHA Junior Gold team.
What fees will there be after registration?
After your player is officially rostered on a team, the team treasurer will send you an invoice via Crossbar for additional assessment fees. These fees are necessary to cover the team's expenses and typically range from $1,200 to $1,600 per player, per season. Please note this is ONLY an approximation and the amount could be higher. Consult with your coach and team manager (once rostered) if you have questions.
