Scholarship Policy & Process

The Wayzata Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) is committed to making hockey accessible to all families playing for WYHA, regardless of their financial situation. The WYHA Scholarship Fund is designed to assist families who may find it difficult to afford the costs associated with participating in the hockey program.


Eligibility Criteria

  1. Financial Need: Families experiencing unique financial challenges may apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the WYHA Executive Board.
  2. Residency and Participation: Applicants must reside within District 284 or meet the participation requirements of the WYHA.

Application Process

1. Submission

  • Applicants must complete the online WYHA Scholarship Application form available on the WYHA website.
  • Applications should include relevant information regarding financial need, such as proof of enrollment in the school lunch program or other financial statements if applicable.


2. Deadline

  • Applications must be submitted by the deadline specified on the WYHA website for the upcoming hockey season.


3. Review and Decision

  • The WYHA Executive Board will review all applications in a closed session to maintain confidentiality.
  • Decisions will be based on financial need and the availability of funds.


4. Notification

  • Applicants will be notified of the scholarship decision via email.


5. Scholarship Awards

  • Scholarships may cover full or partial registration fees, partial assessment costs, depending on the applicant's financial situation and the funds available.
  • The scholarship does not cover equipment costs, travel expenses, or other ancillary costs associated with participation.


6. Confidentiality

  • All information provided in the scholarship application will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of determining scholarship eligibility.
