Goalie Equipment

Becoming a goalie can be a bit daunting - especially the equipment expense. However, ill-fitting equipment can prevent you from being a better player.  As an association, it is hard to buy gear that fits all of our goalies. WYHA recognizes this and provides travel team assessment vouchers to help offset some of these investments for goalie families.

WE SUBSIDIZE YOUR HOCKEY EQUIPMENT COSTS, SO YOU CAN BUY GEAR THAT'S JUST FOR YOU

Every goalie at the Squirt / 10U level and higher, once rostered as a full-time goalie on a WYHA travel team and for the first time in their travel hockey career, will receive a one-time non-monetary voucher credit of $1,200 off their travel team assessment to support your equipment costs. This amount is close to covering the cost of playing for an entire season of travel hockey!

Also, new for the 2024-25 season, all continuing travel goalies that are registered and rostered as full-time goalies for their travel team will receive a non-monetary assessment voucher credit that equals their initial season registration fee for their level!

These credits aim to encourage kids at all levels to try the position, as well as recognize the need of goalies to continue to invest in equipment throughout their goalie career.

Please note, WYHA doesn't supply equipment to travel level goalies. Also, if you do not check in your equipment from your last season of Mites, you will not qualify for these credits.

ASSOCIATION GEAR FOR GOALIES

Gear for Advanced Mites/8U goalies

Coaches of all teams are given a full set of goalie gear to be shared throughout the team for players that are interested in trying the goalie position.

In addition, any Advanced Mite/8U player may check out gear if you are interested in working on goalie training regularly at team practices.

Gear for Older dedicated Goalies

For those in Squirts/10U and beyond who have committed to the goalie position, you may still need help getting gear. To help off set this cost we provide a one time credit (see above) to all first time travel level goalies that commit full time to playing the net. Additionally, please see the sites at the bottom of this page for sources of quality used gear that can further reduce your equipment costs.

Getting gear on time

Getting the right gear can take time, not to mention coordination of calendars to find a time to meet at PIC. Please reach out well in advance of your need to make sure you get fit properly and play your best. We recommend you contact us at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance of your need and expect to spend up to 1 hour to fit your player.

To obtain individual goalie gear contact someone on the Equipment team - names and contact info is on the right side of this webpage, and be flexible with your available time to meet with a coordinator at PIC Rink A. Additionally, make sure your player comes to the agreed time to ensure a good fitting.
